2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid has garnered an impressive amount of attention from the media in the past few months since its launch, including the latest development: former presidential candidate John McCain announced via Twitter that he plans to buy one of the highly acclaimed, eco-friendly Fords.

While this unofficial endorsement has made news headlines across the nation, it’s not all that surprising. CarsDirect’s own Top 20 Most Fuel-Efficient cars of 2009 lists the Fusion Hybrid at #5, and justifiably so—it gets a solid 36/41 mpg (city/highway), making it a logical choice for city dwellers and suburbanites alike.

And with the incredible $1,700-federal tax credit available through September 30, 2009, getting a Fusion Hybrid makes even more sense. So whether or not you need the Arizona senator’s personal thumbs up, the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid is an excellent car that will both save you some cash and show people you care about the environment as well.

2010 Honda Insight

Nearly a decade ago, Honda introduced the world to the Insight hybrid coupe, the first in a line of next-gen fuel efficient cars. With a sleek body that boasts one of the most aerodynamic designs of all time and a combined 83 horsepower from its gasoline-electric drive train, the first generation Insight remains as a major milestone in the development of hybrid technology.

Now, with the national release of the 2010 Honda Insight only days away, we wait anxiously as new information regarding the pricing of the Insight comes trickling in. Not only is it a hybrid with cutting-edge technology like the Eco Assist fuel economy monitoring system and regenerative braking system, but the new Insight will apparently undercut the base price of Toyota’s Prius by $2,000 or more!

2010 Honda Insight Dashboard

That’s quite a savings when you consider that the Insight and the Prius offer comparable fuel economy (40 city/43 highway mpg for the Insight and 48 city/45 highway mpg for the Prius). The Insight’s 4-cylinder hybrid-electric power plant delivers a combined 111 horsepower, allowing for better acceleration over the previous generation. Low rolling resistance tires combined with the car’s ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.28 allow the Insight to cruise effortlessly along the highway.

2010 Honda Insight Seating

Seating for five, as opposed to only two in the previous generation, gives the Insight yet another level of practicality. As more details surface about the 2010 Honda Insight, we can only imagine what else Honda may have up their environmentally conscious sleeves. But much like the launch of the first Insight, you can expect whatever Honda has in store to have a tremendous impact on the modern automotive landscape.

0% APR on 2008 Saturn Aura

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Even though the GM Employee Pricing event is over, now is still a great time to buy a 2008 Saturn Aura. We’ve talked about the benefits of shared platforms before, and the Aurais a great example of how joint design and engineering can result in a great car. Based on the European market Opel/Vauxhall Vectra, the Aurais truly a “world car” and one that has the potential to steal some of the well-earned thunder produced by the enegmatic stallworths in the midsize car class, the Camry and Accord.

From the start, the Aura was clearly built with fuel efficiency in mind as there are several available engines options, each with solid MPG ratings:

  • 3.5-liter V6 224 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque with 20/29 mpg
  • 3.6-liter V6 252 horsepower and 251 lb-ft of torque with 20/28 mpg
  • 2.4-liter I4 169 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque with 22/33 mpg
  • 2.4-liter I4 Hybrid 164 horsepower and 159 lb-ft of torque with 26/34 mpg

The Aura is definitely a car you should consider if you’re looking for something spacious and economical. The Aura excels in its cavernous interior and trunk space. Easily capable of transporting passengers and cargo, the Aura makes short work of both daily commutes and long distance trips alike. Even the Hybrid model, with batteries sunk deep in the trunk, has an impressive cargo area which has more room than its main competitor, the Camry Hybrid.

And now the closer: Saturn is offering 0% APR financing for up to 48 months for qualified buyers as well as HUGE rebates on all Aura models. Don’t miss this opportunity to pick up one of the most fuel-efficient sedans available.
