Volvo Joining V8 Supercars Series with 2013 S60 Polestar SedanJune 13th, 2013 by Jesse Sears
This post has been categorized under “Sports Car” and “Volvo”, which is a first for us here at Pricing Insider. The news comes as Volvo is all set to announce its factory-backed participation in Australia’s V8 Supercars Series, using the high-performance new 2013 S60 Polestar as a base car.
The Supercars Series (watch it on SPEED Channel!) brings some of the most exciting high-powered production-based auto racing in the world, where rules mandate rear-wheel drive, 5.0-liter V8 engines with in excess of 600 horsepower, and plenty of nose-to-tail action. Traditionally the proving grounds for Ford and Holden (GM’s Australian division), the series will expand this year to also include entries from Mercedes-Benz and Nissan.
The production S60 Polestar, shown above, is not available to U.S. consumers, though rumors persist that Volvo will eventually bring the BMW M3/M5 challenger to these shores. Want Volvo safety with sport sedan performance? The 2013 S60 T6 R-Design is quite the potent vehicle in its own right, with 250 horsepower and a sport-tuned AWD system. Pricing for the R-Design, available now, starts at $36,100.
