2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe: News, Pricing and SpecsFebruary 26th, 2013 by Armaan Almeida
The BMW M Performance division lineup continues to expand for the 2014 model year with the addition of one more heart-stopping model: the 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe. Based on the “four-door coupe” stretched wheelbase 6-Series Gran Coupe, this monster of a sedan has its sights set on the Porsche Panamera Turbo and Maserati Quattroporte.
Call it a stretched M6 or a chopped M5; it comes packing the same hard-revving bi-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine with 560 horsepower and 502 lb-ft. of torque. With power sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch auto-manual transmission, 0 to 60 mph should come in right around 4.1 seconds. BMW says the M6 Gran Coupe is capable of a 155-mph electronically limited top speed, which is raised to 190 mph with the addition of the extra-cost M Driver’s Package.
Like the other large M passenger cars, BMW has fitted the M6 Gran Coupe with a sophisticated suite of driving enhancement technologies in an effort to make this be one uber-sedan that’s as balanced and stable as can be, even when speeds range far into the triple digits. That means an electronically controlled Active M limited-slip differential, plus traditional hydraulic-boosted steering rather than the electric power steering system you’ll find on the plain-Jane 6-Series Gran Coupe.
Pricing will start at around $110,000 when the 2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe goes on sale this Summer.
