2013 RAM 1500: Pricing, Specs and AvailabilityApril 6th, 2012 by Armaan Almeida
The 2013 RAM 1500 broke cover at the New York International Auto Show with updated exterior styling, a new engine and transmission and an improved interior. A big money maker for Chrysler despite trailing the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra in sales, the RAM’s new features should keep it competitive.
Chrysler’s award-winning new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 replaces the outgoing 3.7, the new motor offering 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft. of torque and boosting efficiency when combined with the new 8-speed automatic. The HEMI V8 carries over with slight changes, now making 395 horses and 407 lb-ft. of torque and also available with an 8-speed. RAM promises 20% better fuel efficiency with either engine choice.
The new self-leveling air suspension system can adjust ride height up or down to improve aerodynamics during highway driving or adjust for more ground clearance when the road gets rough.
A UConnect infotainment system brings an 8.4-inch touchscreen to a refreshed interior that features a second LCD screen to display pertinent driving information right in the dash.
Pricing and availability details are not yet released, but expect this new competitor in the full-size truck game in showrooms by the end of the summer, priced from around $22,500.
