2009 Volkswagen Jetta Diesel Tax Credit

2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Diesel cars are making a comeback in the United States, and leading the charge is the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Clean Diesel. Through advancements in diesel technology, the Jetta TDI is hardly even recognizable as a diesel car. Gone are the foul-smelling exhaust fumes, soot and loud engine noises that may remember from diesels of years past.

Volkswagen’s clean-burning direct injection diesel system eliminates 95 percent of harmful emissions while also improving efficiency and power. Producing 140 horsepower and an astounding 236 lb-ft of torque, the TDI’s 2-liter diesel power plant is more than competent when it comes to merging into traffic. But high torque is only one of the benefits this diesel engine has to offer—the best being the incredible 30/41 mpg (City/Highway) fuel economy.

As with all Jettas, the Jetta TDI provides great interior comfort, with plenty of space for driver and passengers alike. The TDI also receives a premium audio setup as standard equipment, which includes an in-dash 6-disc CD changer, auxiliary input jack for MP3 players and a 6-month subscription to Sirius Satellite Radio.

And here’s some more good news: if you buy a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI before December 31, 2010, you get a $1,300 diesel tax credit the next time you file your federal income taxes. That’s not a bad deal considering you’ll already be saving on fuel, as experts predict diesel fuel will hit an all-time low this summer and you’ll be getting the aforementioned outstanding fuel economy. It looks like diesel and German engineering are here to stay.
